Great affordable and available whisky - 89 / 100
big one! very spicy, with beautifull sherry influence. pepper, mustard, gunpowder! oranges, orangemarmalade, also some herbs, then mint and milkchocolate. long and complex. needs time, 10 min. to breathe or make it 30.
Kleur: Chesnut Oloroso sherry
nose: Vol. Rood fruit, tabaksrook (sigaren), pruimen, kruidig, koffie bonen
Spicy vanilla and rich malt on the nose with some salt peat smoke in the background, brown sugar and grass. Some savory notes, reminding me of softly smoked ham, rubber band, but also complex fruit, orange (and banana?). Water brings some fresh tobacco and leather. The peat smoke is slightly rubbery, having some mescal notes almost. Like the character.
The arrival is powerful, with salt water, spices, dry wood, I am thinking some distant aromatic cedar wood. More smoky salt on the development, some salt licorice, brown sugar, artificial orange and mixed pepper. But also still some complex fruit from the nose (apples and pears maybe?). Definitely some rubber or Mezcal notes in the development that also goes into the finish.
The finish is long with burnt sugar, orange, peat smoke and smoked ham with black pepper and quality Mezcal.
Amazing balance, this dram suits me perfectly. Complexity and power are the key words. Another stunning Benromach that will have a special spot in my cabinet.

Peat, spice, orange, washing-up liquid, caramel, straw, lime, cookie and plum. With water some raspberry.
Peat, orange, nutmeg, pepper, chocolate, mould and raspberry.
Orange, peat, cocoa and again mould. The latter is really a big pity.
I give for this one 4,25 points out of five. Excellent whisky especially with priceoffer!
