The Dalmore distillery is located in Alness, north of Inverness in the county of Ross-Shire. Beautiful on the shoreline of the Cromarty Firth. Half Gaelic, half Norwegian. Dalmore means "big meadowland". It is owned by Whyte & Mackay. He can produce a maximum of 4.3 million liters of pure alcohol per year, which partly goes into the Whyte & Mackay blend, but mainly finds its way with
many single malt versions available worldwide. Many of them are (partly) aged in former sherry barrels and are sold a lot, especially in the USA.
This single cask version has matured to barrel strength and has had a finish in a former sherry barrel. Special and special, as the Dalmore versions distinguish themselves from other single malts with a sherry barrel ripening.
Light waxy, fruit cake, oranges, rich and elegant. Hardly any wood tones.
Dark chocolate with orange filling. Creamy and greasy. Caramel sweetness surrounds the whole and makes it a bit “waxy”.
Round, rich and elegant.
