Glenlivet 70 Years Old 1940 Gordon & Macphail 0.20 ltr
0.20 ltr. 45.90%
Colour: Deep amber, with deep red lights.
Smell: Mild in the nose. First, an old cocktail cabinet with dominant sherry notes: polished wood, soft leather and a trace of wax candle. Behind fruity notes, light-baked apples (even Tarte Tatin), but also fresh orange juice and a kringeltje smoke or ash in the distance. A trickle of water suppresses fruit tones and enhances the sweetness (now more Scottish tablet) and slightly smoky.
Taste: Feels like it was in the mouth and holds the teeth; smooth and voluptuous. A sweet start, then candidly, with a pinch of salt â € "this is a rare example of â € ~ € ™ umamiâ in whiskey, the elusive fifth primary taste? The finish is long, with faint smoke and aftertaste. Good to drink cask strength. A drop of water let the flavors intact.
