Tomintoul, "the gentle dram from Speyside-Glenlivet ', launches the Tomintoul Five Decades on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the distillery, which was founded in 1965. Master Distiller Robert Fleming has made a selection from 50 years of production. Of every 10 years of production (decade) are selected barrels that illustrate the craftsmanship. Altogether 5230 were produced individually numbered bottles Tomintoul Five Decades, of which 250 bottles to the Netherlands.
The Five Decades Whiskies: 1965-2005
1965 - This rare and special whiskeys from the first year of the Tomintoul Distillery is distinguished by soft, sweet aromas of orange peel, rose petal and Turkish delight.
1975 - Distilled in a very hot summer. This whiskey is matured beautifully with abundant herb and flower aromas and distinctive flavor notes of summer fruits and pear.
1985 - A worthy representative for the 80-ies. With the typical Tomintoul style, with light sweet
nuances - the Tomintoul 'gentle dram'- character worthy.
1995 - One of the best-Sherry casks selected to add rich, interesting flavor notes to the Five Decades composition. This whiskey adds -by 20 years maturing on Sherryvaten- taste tones of raisin, plum and prune and aromas of hazelnut, walnut and soft sherry tones.
2005 - From this year has selected a whiskey which has been matured for 10 years in American oak barrels. This whiskey combines vanilla, honey and coconut with a spicy aftertaste.
Tomintoul Five Decades, 50% - tasting notes
Nose: Classic, creamy Speyside aromas with hints of banana peel and mace.
Taste: Clean, creamy and malty with some toffee sweetness and soft spices.
Finish: Long, sweet first and then a finale of nutmeg.
