105 proof , litre
De allereerste Cask Strenght whisky ter wereld
Staat in het Guinness Book of Records als sterkste whisky ter wereld. (jaren zestig)
Colour: Deep peaty-gold.
Nose: Complex, oaky, apples and pears, and a tempting dark toffee sweetness.
Flavour: Dry and assertive, develops quickly to reveal a rich spiciness, combined with a hint of oak and sherried fruit.
Finish: Amazingly smooth for the strength; wonderfully warming and with a lingering smokiness, yet very rounded.
Comment: A great whisky holding all the flavours of all the Glenfarclas in one glass. Being so warming, this is the perfect Hogmanay dram. Don’t be afraid of the strength and order a 210, if you dare!
The smoothness makes the 105 drinkable at cask strength, but I suggest adding a little water to fully explore its great depth.
For its price to performance ratio, the Malt Maniacs named Glenfarclas 105 their ‘Bang for your Buck’ in 2004.
Nose: Sherry and oak with apples.
Taste: Powerful sherry taste. Mildly spicy fruits and raisins.
Finish: After water has been added and it's been left for 15 minutes to open up, the finish gets very smooth and nice. I'd say it's medium in length. Spicy, oily and fruity.
Nose
Cherry, fig, schnapps / slivovic, raisin, caramel, raspberry, pear, mocha and candied orange.
Taste
Currant, fig, caramel, milk chocolate, cherry and orange.
Finish
Currant, fig, raisin and milk chocolate.
Comments
Excellent value-for-money.
A sherry bomb well Worth the Money. Sherry dominate the palate as expected thou there's a creamy sweetness with hints of chocolates and the finish is pepperry with and lingering Sherry. Adding water removes the rough corners.
At the pricetag it comes there's really no competition, add 30% of the price and you have the Aberlour a'bunadh or Glendronach 15 Revival playing in the same sherry League.
