0,70 ltr 46%
The Hazelburn 10 year old will join the 12 year old to make up the two core products in the Hazelburn range. This has been bottled at 46% ABV and is made up of 100% bourbon casks. The tasting notes are:
Nose: Stewed pears and baked apples are followed by honeycomb and fudge notes.
Palate: A lovely and rich whisky with vanilla and honey flavours. Liquorice follows with a refreshing zestiness.
Finish: A refined milk chocolate cream finish which is oily and chewy.
Citrus, peach, orange, almond, caramel and a small whiff of peat smoke. Then the sweetness of wine gums, especially when comparing it to the 12-year-old.
Tropical fruit such as peach, grapefruit, blood orange and papaya, now with a considerable amount of peat. Some caramel and a little vanilla.
Peat, caramel, peach and a little chocolate.
Compared to the 12-year-old this one is a bit less peaty and less oily. A bit fresher I'd say. For people who are not completely addicted to the Springbank profile this one is probably a bit more accessible.
