In April 2025, I visited Bodegas Portia in Spain in the Ribera del Duero region, where I had the opportunity to purchase a barrel of Bodegas Portia Crianza. Naturally, I didn't pass this up, and it has now arrived at our store, De Druiventuin, in Leiden. This is a limited edition of 300 bottles.

Bodegas Portia, the Ribera del Duero winery of the Martínez Zabala Family , is located in Gumiel de Izán , Burgos, with the building emerging from the vineyard that surrounds it, in close and respectful contact with the environment.

Clean, bright, intense cherry red with purple highlights. Intense and sweet bouquet. Aromas of forest fruits, vanilla, and light toast. Powerful, elegant tannins and good acidity. Long finish with sweet and toasted notes.

It pairs easily with any type of meat, grilled mushrooms, some very flavorful or oily fish, such as tuna or cod, Emmentaler or Gruyère cheeses, and delicious with rice and mushrooms.
