The Cabernet Franc grapes for this characterful wine come from vineyards overlooking the Loire River, a hilly area with clay and limestone soil. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, followed by 12 months on the fine lees.
The result is a characterful wine with an intense ruby red color and a beautiful purple hue. The nose is initially somewhat closed, reminiscent of the château's limestone caverns. It quickly opens up, surprising you with the freshness of floral, leafy, and red fruit aromas. The palate is round and well-structured, with silky tannins thanks to the clay and limestone terroir. A touch of liveliness on the finish, characteristic of Loire wines, is very pleasant and refreshing.
