Product description

Dom Vicente Reserve Encruzado “Unoaked” is a delicious Portuguese white wine from the Dão wine region. This wine is made from the Encruzado grape variety and has an alcohol content of 13%. Like all other Portuguese wines, this wine is also made with a lot of care and love. It goes like this, the grapes are picked by hand and transported to the winery in small boxes. This is followed by total detuning, cold crushing, pressing and decanting in stainless steel tanks at low temperature. Then the completely clean must is transferred to other stainless steel tanks, where it ferments at a controlled temperature of about 15ºC (until the total depletion of the sugars). After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is sulphated. A few days later it is transferred to another stainless steel tank. tank and there it remains for several months with a light “batonnage” on fine lees. When bottling, it undergoes only a light filtration with mineral substances and then a filtration just before filling the bottles to preserve all the aromatic potential.

Tasting notes

Dom Vicente Reserve Encruzado “Unoaked” turns citrus yellow in the glass and is a wine with a fresh and young taste, with aromas of fruit and some flowers. In the mouth it is mineral and fresh, with volume and structure. It conveys the characteristics and minerality of the Encruzado well with the good aromas, freshness and good natural acidity. This wine goes perfectly with seafood, all fish dishes or even lighter meat dishes and cheeses. Please serve at 10ºC.

Viticulture

What makes Portuguese wines so special is the combination of classic and modern. That classic lies in the use of unique grape varieties, often with exotic-looking names. All together there are hundreds, and most of them are only planted in Portugal. Dozens of them are officially permitted in the Douro Valley alone – the Port area! Unlike their peers in most other wine baskets, most Portuguese wine producers have so far steered clear of fashionable varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Holding on to your own grapes, which was once considered a sign of lagging behind, now turns out to be a strong asset! Portugal has always gone its own way over the centuries, and it still does. This also applies to viticulture. Portuguese wines therefore demonstrate an intriguing idiosyncrasy. Anyone who tastes them immediately says: “typical Portuguese”. These are wines with an unmistakably individual character, for adventurous wine drinkers. Keyword: originality.
