Bordeaux-born Frenchman Hervé J. Fabre arrived in Argentina in the early 1990s, seeking opportunities to invest in vineyards. Impressed by the potential and quality of the Malbec grape, he decided to build his first winery in 1992: Fabre Montmayou. The impression the Malbec grape had made on him made him one of the first pioneers of Argentine wine made from a single grape variety.
