St. Andrea Aldás Egri Bikavér is a delicious red wine from the famous Hungarian Eger. Eger is an old town known for its beautiful baroque city center, spas for its “bull's blood” as quality wine. The winemaker of St. Andrea has succeeded in achieving his goal in rehabilitating the concept of 'bull's blood'. Impressive blends are made every year, but this year his quality wine Aldás Egri Bikavé consists of seven grape varieties, namely Merlot, Pinot noir, Syrah, Cabernet France, Kékfrankos, Blauburger and Kadarka.

The fermentation process takes place in stainless steel tanks and is then briefly aged in wood. The wine has matured in the bottle for 12 months before leaving the winery. Thanks to this procedure, a beautiful modern wine is created. In the glass the wine is beautiful ruby red with fruity aromas, lively with blackcurrants and subtle cocoa powder. St. Andrea Aldás Egri Bikavér is a tight but soft wine with good aging potential.

About the Egerin wine region

The Eger wine region is located at the foot of the Bükk Mountains in northeastern Hungary. It is a beautiful terroir with unique possibilities for growing both red and white wines. The region has a cool climate and this is well reflected in the character of the Wines of St. Andrea. The wines have rich aromas, exciting acidity, not overpowering elegance and tannin. The soil is also rich, varied and complex with the dominant lower layer of rhyolite tuff of volcanic origin and lime, zeolite, sandstone, marl, clay and slate. The strong character of the wines is thanks to the soil.

In addition to the international Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah, the indigenous Kékfrankos, Blauburger, Turan and Menoir are grown in the Eger wine region. For white wine, the most planted grapes are Olaszrizling, Chardonnay, Királyleányka and Hárslebelű.
