Review

Color : Dark ruby red

Smell : Deep intense nose. You smell fruity red berries, rhubarb and jam first, then sage, rosemary, mushrooms and undergrowth

Taste : Energetic tannins, rich texture and a very rich body. The aftertaste has a long persistence and is quite spicy

Application : Perfect with robust meat or game, it is excellent in combination with stewed wild boar.

Verdict : The absolutely iconic wine of IL Pollenza. Very complex, full of flavour. Think of a “Margaux” from Italy.

Vinification : In concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C, with maceration on the skins for 20 days – Aging: 15 months in 70% new tonneaux – Aging: 24 months in the bottle

Aldo Maria “Count” Brachetti-Peretti acquired the castle-like complex Il Pollenza in the 1970s. His family has been active in the oil and energy sector since the 1930s. Since the acquisition of Il Pollenza, major investments have been made in viticulture – until now only the best is good enough. Conte Brachetti was assisted by Giacomo Tachis, the Italian wine legend responsible for the SuperTuscan wines such as Sassiscaia, Solaia and Tignanello. Today Carlo Ferrini is the eunologist and Valerio Barbieri is responsible for viticulture.
