This whisky was distilled on November 20, 1953. Now, more than 70 years later, it is ready to be shared with the world. This is an exceptional Glenfarclas, which has matured quietly all this time in the distillery's traditional warehouses in Speyside, in first-fill sherry casks.

Six different distillery managers have watched over this whisky over the past decades. When it was made in 1953, the distillery's malting floor was still in full use – it was a hive of activity, with barley being turned by hand. That space has since been converted into a fermentation tank, but this bottle still bears the character of that era.

This Glenfarclas comes from one of the last casks from that period, and only 262 bottles are available worldwide, of which only 5 are for the Dutch market. A rare release, with a rich history and true distilling tradition.

The colour is warm dark teak – inviting and elegant. The aroma opens with stewed fruit and a soft hint of Speyside peat. On the palate, you taste layers of dark chocolate, spiced dried fruit, toffee with syrup, and deep notes of coffee. A whisky with character, history, and finesse.

Tasting notes:

Color: Dark, glossy teak with a beautiful warm glow – rich in color but not too dark.

Aroma: Soft and smooth, with a light hint of tannin that is never too strong. You smell stewed fruit and a classic Scottish dumpling. A subtle touch of Speyside peat – sourced from the slopes of Ben Rinnes – provides a light earthy, smoky undertone. The aroma becomes increasingly sweet, with layers of fruit compote, honey malt, and a deep, quiet richness.

Taste: Dark chocolate with dried fruit soaked in sherry, followed by a fresh, spicy tingle. Then comes a powerful note of roasted coffee. The texture is creamy and full, like toffee with syrup – rich and deliciously firm.

Finish: The finish lingers for a long time and clings to the palate. Soft peat returns and rolls gently over the tongue, with a green, grassy hint reminiscent of Speyside. This is Glenfarclas heart and soul.
