After 10 years as a lover on a small scale to have organized tastings came after a fourth visit to Islay for owner Erik Miller in September 2009 the time to Kintra Whisky establish. Besides organizing nosings & Tastings for individuals and liquor stores there in 2010 begun bottling its own line of single malt whiskeys.
The aim is to select each year 5 to 8 whiskeys and let bottling under their own label of "Kintra Single Cask Collection" it. They will be available at selected liquor stores. The whiskeys are bottled under the "Kintra Single Cask Collection" label are all individual expressions of famous and less famous distilleries and representing the different whiskey regions. Connoisseurs will the individual character of the single cask bottlings definitely appreciate. Novice whiskey connoisseurs can these bottlings make a step towards the great diversity that offer single cask bottlings.
The "Kintra Single Cask Collection" is characterized by small order and a permanent changing offer. In cooperation with John McDougall (with a past as a manager of Springbank distillery, Balvenie, and Laphroaig) whiskeys are selected and then bottled by a small independent bottler near Paisley.
The labels provide information about the origin of the whiskey, the vat, the time of distillation and the time of bottling. Whiskeys from Speyside have a red label whiskeys from the Highlands a blue label. For the Lowlands soon become true green color, Islay a brown / gray tint. Each label is unique in the sense that the background consists of a map section that indicates the exact location of the corresponding "distillery".
Kintra Whisky is still young and small, but the number of addresses where these special bottlings available is growing steadily. The first two bottlings were a beautiful 13 year old Glenallachie from a refill sherry butt and a "peaty" 8 year old Ledaig of Tobermory Distillery. Both whiskeys are not often offered as a single malt.
