To honor the legacy of Dutch art masters, Douglas Laing and De Monnik Dranken have joined forces to launch "The Dutch Dram Masters." The eighth edition of The Dutch Dram Masters celebrates the Peace of Münster, the moment when, after eighty years of conflict, peace was finally concluded between the Dutch Republic and Spain. A war that began in fire, smoke, and resistance ended with an agreement that brought renewed warmth and prosperity.

The symbolism returns in this whisky. It's as if winter nestles in the glass: a richness of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and warming winter spices, borne from the sherry cask finish, a subtle nod to Spain, once the adversary, but now lending flavor and depth here. The maritime peat and rugged character of Ledaig represent the determined fighting spirit of the Dutch, while the soft, sweet sherry notes reflect the moment of reconciliation and celebratory tranquility.

On June 18, 1648, the Amsterdam crossbowmen celebrated the Peace of Münster, the end of the war with Spain. The leaders shook hands as a sign of peace, the drinking horn was passed around, and a poem on the drum praised the laying down of arms.

Nose : Smoky peat with a hint of sea salt and ash, enriched by dark chocolate, raisins and stewed red fruit.

Palate : Full, rich, and intense, with a harmony of sweet peat and warm sherry notes. Winter spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, orange marmalade, and espresso enchant the palate.

Finish : Long and warming with dark cocoa, light tannins, spicy pepper and lingering orange bitters.
