Filliers Distillery is making significant strides with its range of premium distillates. With the launch of three new whiskies in 2024, Benoit Filliers, the sixth generation of the family business, has set an important course for the future. During a visit by De Monnik Dranken to the Filliers distillery near Ghent in 2023, a very special cask was discovered in the maturation warehouse: a Lorgeril wine cask.

This discovery is special because the ties between De Monnik Dranken, both Filliers Distillery, and the Lorgeril winery are deeply rooted. Three family businesses with a rich history, shared values of craftsmanship and innovation, and years of collaboration. Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril, representing the tenth generation of their family business, manage 340 hectares of vineyards in the southern hills of France. Due to their higher elevation, their grapes benefit from the cooling effect of the Mediterranean climate, which contributes to the finesse of their wines.

During the visit in 2023, the first joint step was taken to bring a unique product to market: the Filliers 15 Year Old Barrel Aged Genever Lorgeril Single Cask. Now, more than a year later, we can finally enjoy this special distillate. This 15-year-old genever has matured for 14 years in American oak and subsequently underwent a final, refined maturation of 1 year in the special Lorgeril cask. The result is a genever with unprecedented depth and complexity: the robust flavors of Filliers' genever blend with the elegant, subtle notes of the French wine cask. Bottled at 55% and with only 300 bottles from the cask, this is a rare and exclusive bottling for the true connoisseur.
