On May 15, 2026, a group of 10 of us (WHISKY071) visited Duncan Taylor and tasted various cask samples. This 8-year-old Clynelish on an Octave Palo Cortado Finish stood out head and shoulders above the rest. We all decided to have this cask bottled and shipped to Leiden.

The result is a beautifully balanced whisky with the creamy sweetness, abundant fruit, and subtle, typical waxy accents of Clynelish. Notes of honey, citrus, and vanilla emerge on the nose. The taste is fresh, full of citrus, green apple, caramel, and light spices. The Palo Cortado influences of bitter orange, roasted almonds, and warm baking spices are definitely present. The finish provides a nutty layer and a slightly drier, spicy aftertaste. This, combined with the creaminess and the characteristic fruity character of Clynelish, makes for a long and smooth finish.
