For over 40 years, Duncan Taylor's team has been experimenting with aging whisky in smaller casks, and with great success. The research is based on the simple assumption that there is more interaction between the wood and the whisky in a small cask, even for a shorter period than in a large cask. This allows the combination of wood, air, and alcohol to come together more quickly. After a second maturation, the octave casks have refined the whisky, improving its colour, flavour, structure, and character. The flavour profile is subtly more extensive and slightly more refined, with the impressive presence of a mature, balanced Scotch whisky. They are now 'Octave Invigorated™'.

The Octave Collection is extensive and offers something for everyone, whether it concerns a single malt, a single grain, or a blended malt whisky. The collection includes whiskies from distilleries such as Aultmore, Bunnahabhain, Brackla, Caol Ila, Glenallachie, Glen Moray, Highland Park, Miltonduff, and Tobermory.
