Nose: Rich muscovado sweetness, pipe smoke, Christmas spices, sandalwood, orange peel, baked apples, chocolate orange, sweet tobacco, round, linseed and earthy

Palate: Initially, intense molasses sweetness warmed by dry peat smoke. Pipe ash, raisins, and sultanas cooked with nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Then toffee apples, toasted, drying oak, tobacco, and leather, yet a freshness—a crisp hint of pine and blood orange, even sweet grapefruit.

Finish: The sweet spices melt away gently, leaving a comforting warmth of dried fruit and peat fire.

Inspired by the legend

Under the soft moonlight, the mythical creature, the Silkie, comes ashore in the form of a seal on the remote Silver Strand, off the Donegal coast. Carefully shedding her seal fur, she transforms into her human form—a beautiful, dark-haired maiden with deep, beautiful eyes you could easily get lost in.

Dancing across the sand, enjoying the freedom she enjoys in both worlds, she is oblivious to the young fisherman enchanted by her beauty. She turns, their eyes meet, and their love is sealed.

Silkie creates a cozy home with her fisherman, but the sea calls her back to the water incessantly. This call becomes so strong that she leaves her beloved and returns to the ocean forever.
