After maturing for almost half a century in our Talisker distillery on the windswept Isle of Sky, the heavily charred American oak barrels crossed the Atlantic Ocean on their way to their final distillation. Weathered for 96 hours in the ice and snow of dramatic glaciers, these wooden barrels have a larger surface area, allowing more of the sweet spiciness of the aged Bourbon barrel to blend with the whiskey—resulting in a smooth amber character and exceptional structure.
